Our Program

The National Quality Framework and The Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework are embedded in our play-based programs

At Vista Valley Kindergarten, our program reflects a holistic approach, in order to pay attention to children’s physical, personal, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, as well as cognitive aspects of learning.

Our Early Childhood Educators provide a warm, nurturing and safe environment with an ongoing commitment to children’s safety that encourages the development of the whole child. The educational program has a specific emphasis on inclusive, play-based learning, providing opportunities for children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine.

We recognize that families are children’s first and most influential teachers. We respect, support, value and communicate with families about their children as part of our commitment to maintain positive relationships. Families are invited to be active participants in their child’s learning and are encouraged to join us during the program.

Our programs are inclusive of children’s ideas and interests, parent and community events as well as teacher-initiated learning.

Play-based Language Programs

At Vista Valley Kindergarten we are passionate about learning languages.

Benefits of learning another language:

  • increasing pre-reading and pre-writing skills

  • helping children to think, explore and problem solve

  • bolstering self-esteem and wellbeing

  • strengthening cultural identity

  • fostering deeper connections with different cultures and languages.

Early Learning Languages Australia

ELLA introduces children to learning the Modern Greek language via interactive tablet apps, which have been developed in consultation with experts in languages, early childhood and technology.

The Polyglots are a cast of characters who – through play-based learning – introduce the children to words, sentences and songs in Modern Greek. The apps draw on the interests and activities of young children, such as celebrations, cooking experiences, art activities, building and role-play.

Bilingual Early Childhood Language Program – Italian

The Bilingual ECLP program runs for 12 hours in our 4-year-old Butterfly group on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The Italian Language teacher uses enriching play based learning experiences to expose children to the Italian language through engaging and fun experiences, including singing, dancing, art and craft, games and storytelling.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation

Vista Valley Kindergarten works alongside the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation to provide pleasurable food education that inspires our children to understand and connect with fresh, seasonal, delicious food through fun, hands-on learning.

This approach empowers children to develop practical skills, an appreciation of seasonal produce, and a positive, confident and healthy relationship with food – for life.
